Privately owned recruitment firm NRL Ltd is implementing a new IT system throughout their operation, which will integrate front and back office functions. NRL look to create large efficiencies as a result and to allow their clients and candidates much more interactivity – and there are ecological benefits as well.

New, specialist front office software includes a range of recruitment-specific functionality, for example CRM, assignment management, vacancy management, vendor management, CV parsing, document text search, document retrieval, configurable workflows and KPI monitoring. The web-based system will save time, eliminating internal processes and paper flows. Quick and simple to update, with links to online sources, this front office element of the new system will be fully operational later in the year.
The back office is a fully automated part of the new system which will feature both client and candidate portals. Clients can authorise or reject timesheets and download invoices, while candidates can edit their details, upload timesheets, download payslips and view historic and future workdays. The new system also provides an auto feed into the payroll for smooth, efficient working. Major strides have been made towards the paperless office by eliminating the need to print and post thousands of payslips a week. Workers now receive notice of pay by email or text. Back office accounts functions such as invoicing, payment, sending remittance advice and even chasing debt are also automated, with the system utilising online facilities such as BACS and email. A number of the back office functions are already operational; others will be going live at a later date.
Jane Fretwell, NRL’s finance director, says: “Increased efficiency was our major aim and already we’re seeing excellent results. This wide-ranging system has benefits for clients in terms of swifter and even better service from NRL, with no commensurate increase in prices. It’s better for clients and candidates too in terms of accessibility; functions where they require information or need to provide data are now at their fingertips and of course available at their convenience 24/7. And the system is better for the environment too, with several paper-generating functions now operating online instead.”

NRL have been providing the radiography service for AMEC for several years now at the Sellafield site. I have found them to be reliable, flexible and professional in carrying out their duties in what is sometimes a very tight timescale. I look forward to carrying on this relationship in the future and would recommend them to other companies.

I engaged NRL to supply a key team of operatives to support our new build CCGT project in Pembroke. NRL supplied a qualified and experienced team of operatives who have worked efficiently on our project and enabled my department to deliver our part of the project on budget. The NRL team are always available and regularly attended site to deliver team meetings and tool box talks. When it came to demobilising the site team, NRL carried this out with the minimum of fuss and no disruption to the project. NRL maintained exceptional industrial relations on the project. I highly commend them and look forward to working with them on future projects.

NRL provided key support to our FGD projects, supplying a lot of experienced people at short notice. The programme for delivering the FGD was extremely challenging, resulting in rapid mobilisation of significant numbers of tradespeople. NRL were able to support SEC's requests for additional resources in a co-ordinated and professional manner. Equally impressive was NRL's co-operation in the demobilisation of operatives, always within the spirit of the NAECI and adhering to employment legislation.
