NRL are currently recruiting on behalf of an industrial gases company for a Assistant Maintenance Planner for work in Ellesmere Port and other areas across the UK. This position is on a 12 month contract basis.

The EDP Assistant Maintenance Planner, at the request of, or under the direction and mentoring of the Maintenance Planner:
  • Developing detailed shutdown plans, supervising and co-ordinating the preparation of shutdowns, liaising with Procurement, the technical departments, and contractors and suppliers to initiate the purchase requisitioning and achieve optimal planning.
  • When appropriate, working as shutdown leader during the execution of shutdowns as part of the leadership training
  • Provides planning support for plant breakdowns to learn what and where prioritisation is required
  • Provides planning support for major maintenance works and/or other maintenance work involving Euromaintenance staff;
  • Plans and co-ordinates the implementation of maintenance-related productivity projects.
About the role:
  1. Actively participate (and lead where appropriate) and support all safety programs, safe work practices, good housekeeping and environmental compliance.
  2. Actively work in compliance with shutdown work process to consistently to assist in delivering world class performance, highlighting possible improvements where appropriate.
  3. Work with the UK Planner and appropriate plant contacts to identify upcoming plant shutdowns and assist in developing a timetable for shutdowns within Europe;
  4. Assist (and lead where appropriate) the coordination of all shutdown efforts with the appropriate Planner and plant contacts, including:
  • The consolidation of agreed work lists for all minor and major shutdowns.
  • Planning and execution of shutdown planning meetings, including the recording of minutes and distribution to the key stakeholders.
  • •     Developing cost estimates and working with procurement to create purchase orders and utilise   call-off contracts with the most appropriate contractors and suppliers, obtaining appropriate review/approval with the MSM. creating plans and schedules/tracking programs.    
  • •     Work with Global Materials Management team to ensure that the availability and consumption    of spares is co-ordinated appropriately.
  • When appropriate, the review of drawings, specifications etc. to consolidate the shutdown scope, its required content and liaise with MSMs to get decisions on whether the activity would be classified as capital or non-capital.
  • Ensure that risk assessments, method statements and all safety related information are in place prior to commencement of the task.   
  • Estimation of manpower, materials, equipment and special tools requirements.
  • Prepare detailed schedules/plans and highlight the work execution critical path. Utilising the appropriate planning software (MS Project, MS Excel) where applicable.
  • During the execution of shutdowns, complete daily review meeting to review all activities, and report to all key stakeholders the safety status, any key work high/low lights and progress, actual cost against budget, cost forecast, as well as Key performance indicators.  Examples would be: Safety sampling results, near misses, first aids, schedule compliance, cost, productivity charts, man hours etc.
  • Where required, conduct walk-through on jobs. Liaising with the field engineers and technical specialists and contractors in all disciplines, to ensure the scope is fully understood and all personnel completing the task understand the work and are aligned.
What you will need:
  • Valid full driver’s licence
  • Valid passport
  • Prior experience within maintenance planning / shutdowns
  • Experience in a similar role where maintenance, shutdowns, general and major maintenance work was required
  • Experience in using SAP
  • Prior electrical / mechanical experience within maintenance engineering preferred
