NRL have multiple exciting opportunities across the Northwest & the UK for various levels of CS&A Engineers

The roles are based on a hybrid working schedule, and can be based around the following locations:

- Warrington
- London
- Glasgow
- Bristol
- Gloucester 

Candidates must be able to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities:

  • To be able to produce and have knowledge in external works design; design of highways and access roads; utilities and infrastructure. Experience should include the design of road geometry; paved and unpaved surfaces; drainage and underground services; earthworks; access and accessibility; construction logistics, and familiarity with current UK design standards and working practices on a major industrial infrastructure project.

  • Lead teams to assist with consultancy guidance, feasibility, outline, and detailed design, referencing ‘Manuals For Streets’, ‘Sewers For Adoption’, ‘Design Manuals For Roads And Bridges’, ‘Specification For Highways Works’ and Building Regulations And Guidance.

  • Undertake the co-ordination of thorough site investigations, geo-environmental/contamination assessments; complete inspections, and identify and resolve any issues as appropriate.

  • Partake in ‘Appraise and Select’ and Feasibility studies, progressing through to the ‘Preliminary’ and ‘Detailed Design’ gates.

  • Produce high-quality designs, drawings, and reports using engineering materials from commencement to completion, which can readily be checked. Documents shall be prepared for feasibility, costing and construction purposes, including highways & drainage, street works, public works, SUDS, building drainage, utilities coordination/diversion of services.

  • Influence development and infrastructure master-planning using knowledge of Highways Act 1980, Water Industry Act 2004, Land Drainage Act, New Roads and Street Works Act, and other Statutory Instruments, etc, as required. Experience at Sellafield Limited preferred.

  • Preparation of Calculations, CDM activities, Basis of Design, Material Specifications, Scopes of Work, Technical reports, Inter discipline design coordination and supervision.

  • Represent the CS Discipline at design team meetings with clients and other construction professionals.

  • Resolution of construction issues, TQs, Concessions and Production Permits

Requirements:

  • A degree qualified (BEng or MEng), Civil Engineer

  • Chartership Membership of either Institution of Civil Engineers and/or the Institution of Structural Engineers.

  • Nuclear experience

  • Knowledge of seismic design requirements for waste storage / processing plant beneficial

  • Knowledge and use of BIM packages

  • Experience in preparation of deliverables for early-stage ‘Appraise and Select’, and Constructability Assessments and HAZOPs

  • Knowledge of structural aspects of underground/ above ground services diversions
    Software capabilities

  • Analysis, Design and Integrate using engineering software such as AutoCAD 2D; Civil 3D; Flow / Micro-drainage (or similar hydraulic design software); TEDDS; MathCAD; Tekla; Revit, Autodesk Design Review, Navisworks, (as well as producing hand calculations).
