Job Purpose
Reporting to the Facilities Manager and being based in West Cumbria, the Facilities Assistant will provide support to the nuclear and environmental sectors of the business.

Key Responsibilities
1. Contribute to the safe day-to-day operations of both a radiometric and environmental facility.
2. Ensure that all activities are carried out with full regard to, statutory regulations, site licence requirements and local directives, procedures and safety rules.
3. Undertake Portable Appliance Testing, Fire Alarm and Emergency Light Testing Duties if/when suitably qualified and experienced.
4. Undertake (relevant to competency and internal training), low risk / low level minor Mechanical/Electrical maintenance and minor building infrastructure and fabric maintenance/repair tasks.
5. Monitor and respond to and remain constantly aware of Health & Safety matters that may emerge within the facilities as required by task scope and current legislation.
6. Responsibility for ensuring the timely inspection, servicing and calibration of appropriate tools and plant service equipment under the direction of the facilities manager.
7. Assist in the collation and storage of on plant data (up to date computer skills will be required), basic knowledge of Microsoft office suite.
8. The ability to work as part of a team with flexibility and a positive attitude.
9. Work with other departments to improve quality, efficiency and processes.

Experience/Qualifications/Skills
Essential:
• Knowledge & experience relevant to facility and estate management
• Specific Training, Qualifications and Experience needed to be able to evidence the Competences listed above.
• ONC in Engineering/Science subject or relevant experience.
• IOSH Working Safely (or willing to be gained within 3 months of employment)
• All applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and be able to gain satisfactory security clearance

Desirable:
• Clean driving licence.
• Flexible approach.
