NRL are working in partnership with a client who is looking for a Fire Systems Design Engineer based in the North East.


Main Duties / Responsibilities  

  •   Prepare fire alarm designs, quotations, battery calculations and electronic drawings to enable the projects/sales department to price projects required by contractors, consultants and end users within scheme specific predetermined time frames.
  • Reading and interpreting client specifications
  • Ensuring designs/quotations are prepared in line with the clients requirements/specifications/BS5839-1
  • Seeking further information from clients or other staff to enable preparation of quotations/designs as required
  • Adhering to company processes in line with BAFE
  • Providing administrative support to both the sales and projects teams including call handling and response to e mails providing support to customers and responding to their queries.
  • Prioritise enquiries that are to be designed/quantified and quoted so that clients deadlines are met
  • Communicate with sales staff re the details of the projects that are to be priced
  • Contract review all supply and commission orders ensuring full compliance between customer order and company quotation
  • Contact manufacturers to obtain project prices
  • Visit sites to ascertain viability of fire alarm design proposals ( scheme specific)
  • Work on several different projects/tasks simultaneously as they arise with varying degrees of urgency, prioritising as appropriate.
  • Carry out site surveys on existing buildings to enable/prepare detailed fire alarm designs and quotations
  • Produce framed Zonal diagrams from AutoCAD drawings
  • Extensive knowledge and experience within the fire detection industry
  • Extensive knowledge of the relevant British Standards and codes of practice that are to be adhered to within the industry
