NRL currently have an opportunity for a Health Physics Monitor for a 12 month contract (approx.) working on a high profile project.

The Role:
Working on a major nuclear construction project, there is a requirement to clear an area of land in order to prepare the ground for building works. This work will involve the movement of large volumes of concrete, rubble and soil in addition to smaller volumes of ‘other’ materials (metals, wood etc.). As such a monitoring regime (including reassurance monitoring and more in-depth screening methods) must be implemented in order to segregate non-radiologically contaminated materials and wastes, from radiologically contaminated wastes. 

You will need:
  • Experience of monitoring operations in radiation and contamination environments.
  • Be flexible to support on site activities.
  • Plant operations experience in a nuclear facility.
  • Good understanding of nuclear safety and criticality control requirements.
  • Experience of monitoring operations in radiation and contamination environments.
  • Good verbal, written and presentational skills in order to communicate effectively and undertake formal training of others and competence assessment of individuals.
Qualifications Required:
  • City & Guilds 1 or NVQ level 2 in Radiation Protection
  • IOSH working safely
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Good level of computer literacy required including word and excel.
