Mechanical Fitter (Warships)
Our client at Devonport Royal Dockyard is looking for Mechanical Fitters to join the team that is at the forefront of supporting the Royal Navy fleet. This a contract position lasting initially until October 2022.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the serviceability of Warships and systems through detailed maintenance and refit periods by working with multi-trade teams.
Remove, overhaul, and install a variety of mechanical equipment which could include Hydraulics, weapons, water and fuel systems and LP/HP air, among other assets.
Working to engineering drawings and technical specifications
install and align new equipment and carry out system and equipment functional tests and surveys.
What you will need:
You’ll need to hold qualifications in at least one of the following:
• Indentured Apprenticeship
• Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline
• Armed Forces PO/CPO/NCO with mechanical specialisation
• Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification
Experience
read engineering drawings to interpret work instructions
competent in the use of general workshop machinery
Ideally will have worked in the marine industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships - although other relevant experience will be considered.
