NRL are currently recruiting for a Project Controls Manager to work with a client of ours, a leading supplier of industrial gases. This role is on an initial 12-month contract, based in Hersham.

 

Role Responsibilities:
  • Manage the project controls resources required to deliver cross functional and cross region engineering projects in the EMEA region.
  • Provide the Project Manager with progress reporting including schedule updates, forecast to complete, variance identification and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support to the regional Manager of Project Controls in overall workload planning, resource hiring, training, department reporting and improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and control Project compliance in respect of the project’s contractual obligations and our Client’s procedural requirements.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly spend analysis. Attend project meetings to provide Project Management with current financial information and trend log regarding potential impacts to project budget or forecast.
  • Assist project team in development of action plans to avoid cost & schedule overruns.
  • Maintain reserve and contingency analysis.
  • Manage the Risk Process on Project
  • Manage CSRA reviews at Project set up stage and as required during execution.
  • Work with the project team to develop detailed monthly cost forecast / status reports.
  • Develop forecast trend analysis for site costs.
  • Maintain detailed change management records. Analyse change order values against current budget and prepare reconciliations to include in forecast at completion reports.
  • Ensure that Project Controls input and support to projects are suitably estimated and adequality resources to meet project delivery requirements.
  • Attend project kick-off/ commercial kick-off and monthly project team reviews.
  • Monitor spend to ensure accurate cost reporting. Review and analyse supplier, sub-contractor invoices to allocate these expenditures against the appropriate CBS.
  • Using the L4 deliverables to accurately forecast man-hours with design.
  • Review forecast with the Project Manager/Engineering Leadership Team.
  • Provide coaching and support to individual contributors with the team with respect to day to day job performance, performance appraisals, objective setting and continuous professional development planning.
  • Support and participate in internal and external audits related to project controls, cost and SOX compliance.
 


Role Requirements:
  • General Experience: Sound knowledge, proven skills and competencies in application of project cost control principles, methodologies and tools, supporting all phases of project execution, especially around Project Cost Control, Forecasting, Change Management and Reporting, within a large project-oriented EPC or Owner Organisation. Must be able to deliver accurate cost information, reporting and guidance to management. SAP experience within Project Systems module.
  • Project Cost Control Experience: Proven skills and experience of cost control of projects on global basis, supporting foreign currency analysis, assessing currency risk exposures, advising Treasury of currency requirements and changes, supporting projects executed by multiple engineering offices, and understanding intercompany project ramifications. Understanding of a variety of project types, structures and contract terms. This includes Sale of Gas (SOG), third party Sale of Equipment (SOE), joint ventures, capital, and cost sharing type arrangements.
  • Flexibility:  Potential travel internationally to other regional engineering and project sites.
  • Core competencies:  Commercial and technical acumen, working knowledge of project cost controls tools and systems.  Proven skills in cost control, coupled with a working knowledge of project management, business development and finance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Numerate or related field preferred
  • Previous work experience in Project Execution / Project Controls
  • Ability to work within an established team to achieve targets and goals.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent knowledge and proficiency with the Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, One Note)
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Primavera P6, Deltek Acumen is desirable
  • Excellent oral and written English proficiency is a must.
