  • As a Senior Engineer in Electrical design, you’ll work within an exciting, challenging and growing area of the business, supporting and undertaking the development of design for Electrical Distribution projects for a variety of customers, in compliance with the relevant legislation and design standards.
  • You will apply your skills and experience in helping the Engineering Solutions team provide expert advice, first-class innovation and reliable support throughout the Distributed Energy business as well as helping to develop capability within the team.
  • We will support your personal development as you work to develop innovative engineering solutions to successfully optimise scope, cost, programme and risk for projects, taking into account health, safety, and the environment throughout.
  • You will play a crucial role in delivering high quality design standards and supporting the emerging Distributed Energy market, and in doing so, driving business growth.
What you will need:
  • Carrying out Electrical Distribution network designs
  • You will be providing design services and advice to our developing Electric Vehicles sector. You will be responsible for reviewing sites and equipment, providing feasibility assessments and operating as the technical lead for projects in development.
  • You will develop HV and LV electrical distribution networks designs, complying with the relevant NERS design guidance, appropriate Network/Systems Operator design standards and industry legislation. You will complete this in an innovative, safe and commercially viable standard against agreed milestones.
  • Your will deliver excellent levels of internal and external customer satisfaction by ensuring a high standard of quality within your engineering projects and deliverables and will confidently engage with customers and stakeholders in order to continuously strive to exceed their expectations.
  • You will proactively seek out lessons learned from other projects in order to continuously improve, and embed best practice, which you will share with the wider team.
  • You will be responsible for conducting “Peer Reviews” with your colleagues in order to provide a high standard of quality and consistency in design.
  • Technical Project Support to the Distributed Energy Business
  • You will support the stakeholders in each Distributed Energy sector through providing the benefits of your skills and experience, as well as taking ownership as the technical lead on projects to research and develop Engineering solutions to meet the needs of the emerging market.
  • You will be required to plan, develop and coordinated solutions to meet the needs of internal and external clients, contribute to client meetings and provide strong leadership on behalf of the Engineering Solutions team in ensuring a fully coordinated approach to design development and costing, showing strong commercial awareness.
  • Contract Management and Commercial Engineering
  • You will support in the management of design contracts for the development and design of your solutions to address the requirements of a project. You will provide a point of contact for the flow of technical information, report to the business on progress, and take ownership to drive key issues through to resolution in a collaborative way.
  • Business Knowledge
  • A basic understanding of the energy industry
  • A basic understanding of UK energy regulation.
  • A strong understanding of the UK Electricity distribution structure and regulations
  • Essential Functional / Technical Skills
  • Qualified Electrical Engineer – to HNC, degree or equivalent certification level
  • Ideally Chartered/Incorporated Engineery
