NRL’s engineering client based in Burntisland is looking to recruit a technical administrator on a 4-6 week contract.

About the role:

Job Summary
  • The role of Technical Clerk is to work closely with the QA department to ensure all Quality related project documentation is updated, filed, and put into the correct format as required by the company document controller.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Writing reviewing, scanning, distributing, filing, and archiving of completed Quality documents.
  • Maintain the quality department project records both paper and electronic files.
  • Ensuring that all administrative activities within the Quality department are compliant.
  • Deputising for the document controller as required.
  • Performing document control activities as required.
  • Performing administrative support during client / customer audits / visits
  • Ensuring client deliverables / requirements are met according to the project specification.
  • Actively manage, maintain and development of project procedures, forms, and work instructions with a view to continually improving these to reflect internal/external best practices and industry standards.
  • Aid in the preparation of reports /KPIs to Managers.

Primary Objectives

  • Work closely with the Quality Dep to ensure all Quality related project documentation is stored accordingly.
  • Developing and maintaining the Quality departments documentation in an orderly manner to ensure its retrievable and traceable.


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Always be prepared to learn and listen.
  • Never approve anything that does not meet requirements unless accepted by the client.
  • Always work with people and not against them and use judgement and common sense.
  • Always seek to obtain respect and cooperation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office (word, excel, etc.)
  • Document control experience (preferred)
  • Administrative experience and a good knowledge of document control.
  • Experience working within a similar role.
  • Role would likely suit someone with some additional background experience in the marine or engineering industries/disciplines.

Physical Demands

  • May be subject to industrial noise if on fabrication shopfloor.
