NRL’s client based in Grangemouth is looking to recruit a Wastewater Technical Specialist on a permanent basis. A background in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical is vital for this role.
About the role:
- The Technical Specialist will provide front-line technical support to refinery wastewater treatment operations on customer operated assets. The Technical Specialist will be the companies only full-time on-site presence for a key contract and will be the main point of contact for the Customer, working directly with the Customer Operations Team on a daily basis. The Technical Specialist must have significant technical capabilities to both understand and implement process changes to maintain process performance as well as the ability to make decisions under pressure with varying customer demands.
The role includes duties such as:
- Day-to-day process support
- Review daily operating instructions
- Daily operational data review
- Troubleshooting and guidance
- Plant optimisation
- Technical training for Customer Operations Teams
- Definition of plant KPI’s and provision of guidance on how to achieve them
- Operating / procedural changes whilst the customer is undertaking repairs / modifications e.g. temporary works, temporary operating instructions etc.
- Process engineering / technical input as required to operational reviews
- Liaising with the Water Sciences Laboratory to interpret results, design sampling and analysis schedules / protocols etc
- Liaising with the Customer Environmental Team to monitor changing legislation trends to ensure minimum impact and application of best practice.
- The Technical Specialist will be required to proactively look for opportunities for the business to deliver additional value to the customer through process optimisation and identification of asset care opportunities.
- The Technical Specialist will be supported in their role by the Area and Territory Managers as well as specialists from the Northern Europe Technical Team
- Provide first line technical support to the operations Team.
- Review Operational performance on the water systems, identify trends and identify areas for improvement or vulnerabilities.
- Create investment strategies, where required, for water systems and work with the Team to develop potential solutions.
- Work with the customer Operations and Maintenance teams to identify projects that will address plant vulnerability’s or allow for process, commercial or operational improvements to the assets.
- Assist in the preparation and training of Operations procedures and instructions.
- For systems, develop and maintain clear KPI’s that ensure easy monitoring of plant performance.
- Provide a daily record or plan of plant performance based around availability and quantitative and qualitative analysis of relevant data.
- Highlight gaps in technical documentation and procedures. Create action plans to ensure gaps are filled.
What will you need?
- Proactive focus towards health and safety and ability to lead on specific H&S matters
- Technical experience in effluent treatment (preferably within the Petrochemical industry)
- Experience working with external customers including leading, facilitating and contributing to meetings
- Proven ability to make fast and effective decisions under pressure
- Water treatment theory and practice, directly related to aerobic, physical and chemical treatment technologies
- An ability to demonstrate commercial awareness through delivery of optimisation and identification of upgrade opportunities, preferably with experience contributing to proposal development
- An excellent ability to communicate and deliver written plans
- Full clean driving license
