About the gigafactory
AESC UK's latest battery facility now under construction, will become their second site in Sunderland when it starts operations in 2025.
What is the Gigafactory?
The new production space will allow AESC to manufacture enough batteries for 100,000 electric vehicles each year. Thanks to the new plant with a footprint the size of 23 football pitches, which will be powered by 100% net zero carbon energy. To support battery production capacity at the new gigafactory, over 1,000 new jobs are expected.

Where is the new Gigafactory?
Located on Sunderland’s International Advanced Manufacturing Park on International Drive, the new gigafactory is just a short distance from the Downhill Lane junction of the A19 - making it an ideal location to commute to from nearby Newcastle, Durham and Teesside. Great public transport links also service the area well.
