We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been awarded the highly-respected Workforce Assured accreditation, following a thorough and successful audit of our business operations. This achievement marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to ethical recruitment, compliance excellence and social impact.

Workforce Assured is a recognised benchmark for all tiers of the construction supply chain, from contractors and umbrella suppliers to recruitment businesses, which demonstrates their robust governance, transparent processes, and a genuine dedication to candidate welfare. Our award follows a detailed audit of our systems, policies and procedures, which confirmed that our business operates in a manner that is fair, ethical and legally compliant for both our direct employees and the candidates we recruit on behalf of our clients.

Workforce Assured Managing Director, Doug Aris, commended NRL’s approach:

“NRL achieved a first-time pass on the accreditation, which is not common. The team displayed a fantastic attitude to learning and continual improvement. Congratulations to Emma and the team.”

This glowing endorsement reflects the high standards we set across our operations and we’re pleased to share below some of the areas that highlight the work conducted across our teams which contributed to our successful audit:

Championing ethical recruitment

Our business is committed to ethical recruitment, and as such our internal processes are designed to ensure that every candidate is treated with fairness, dignity and respect, from initial engagement through to placement and beyond.

Our strong focus on compliance means we work diligently to ensure that all recruitment activity is aligned with current legislation and industry best practice, including rigorous checks to confirm candidates’ legal right to work, transparent communication around roles and responsibilities, and a clear focus on safeguarding worker rights.

By embedding compliance into every stage of the recruitment journey, our teams can ensure that candidates are not only matched to roles that suit their skills and experience, but are also supported throughout the duration of their placement.

Driving equity, diversity and inclusion

As part of our wider social value efforts, we also place a focus on advocating for equity, diversity and inclusion. We actively work to remove barriers to employment and promote equal opportunities for all, regardless of background, ethnicity, gender, age, disability or other protected characteristics. This commitment is reflected in a number of practical initiatives, including:

We believe that a diverse workforce is a stronger workforce, one that brings together a wide range of perspectives, experiences and ideas to drive innovation and success. So we were extremely pleased to see our efforts in this area recognised in our Workforce Assured audit.

Supporting welfare and mental wellbeing

Recruitment is about more than just placing candidates into roles. We’re proud to continue supporting our candidates throughout their careers, ensuring they have access to all the resources and support they may require. That’s why we’ve invested in a range of initiatives to promote welfare and mental wellbeing.

Across every one of our recruitment branches, we have individuals who have taken on additional roles as Mental Health First Aiders – making themselves available to lend an ear and support our colleagues with any mental health challenges they may be facing. For our contractor community, we’re also pleased to provide our worker wellbeing app which signposts vital mental health resources and support services, as well as a range of important awareness campaigns around mental health and wellbeing.

We’ve even supported our clients with introducing mental health support on-site, liaising with partners like the Lighthouse Charity to have them visit major projects we’re involved with and deliver talks to workers on the importance of caring for the mental health of those around them, as well as their own.

Delivering social value through recruitment

Beyond our core recruitment activity, we’re passionate about delivering social value through our operations. This includes supporting local communities, investing in our people, protecting our planet and championing charitable initiatives that make a real difference.

An area highlighted in our audit which demonstrates the combined impact of these efforts is our social value report, which highlights the fantastic work carried out across our teams to give back to the areas we work in, showcases the ways we support our colleagues in and outside of work, and displays our commitment to operating sustainably.

A culture of continuous improvement

Achieving Workforce Assured accreditation is a significant milestone for our business, representing another step in our ongoing journey to deliver excellence in recruitment whilst operating responsibly.

Whilst we are incredibly satisfied with this achievement, we are conscious that there are always more ways to continue better supporting our clients and candidates, and we look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with them grounded in trust, transparency and shared values. Workforce Assured accreditation provides external validation of our company’s current approach, and we look forward to continuing to lead by example.
