Assistant Contracts Surveyor – Northumberland

Join a major construction project in Northumberland as an Assistant Contracts Surveyor, supporting the commercial management team throughout all stages of project delivery. Client Overview
Our client is a highly regarded organisation in the construction sector, recognised for delivering complex infrastructure and building projects with a focus on quality, safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing subcontracts from procurement through to account settlement
  • Support the preparation of cost reports, valuations and payment applications
  • Track project costs and maintain accurate financial records
  • Contribute to risk and value management, providing cost information for key decisions
  • Prepare tender documentation and review contract conditions
  • Liaise effectively with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and internal procedures
Must‑have Requirements
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent level of experience
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Familiarity with construction contracts (NEC or JCT preferred)
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost management software
  • A strong desire to learn and progress professionally within the commercial function
Nice‑to‑have Skills
  • Previous experience assisting with contract management or cost control on construction projects
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, forecasting and reporting
