Document & Information Management Lead

Location: Nottingham (with UK travel)
Contract: Full-time, 12 months (potential to extend)
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and confident
Document Management Lead to support a portfolio of major infrastructure projects across the UK. Based at our Technology Centre near Nottingham, you will play a key role in ensuring robust document management processes are implemented, maintained, and continuously improved across multiple live projects.
This is a highly collaborative position requiring strong stakeholder engagement, leadership of document control teams, and expertise in document management systems within complex engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and optimise the company-wide Document Management System (DMS), including engineering applications (e.g. CAD/CAE).
- Develop, implement, and maintain DMS processes and project management templates.
- Ensure document management processes are effectively applied across multiple projects.
- Coordinate and manage a team of document controllers (approx. 6–7 people), including external resources.
- Deliver DMS training to internal project teams and external partners.
- Manage system access, permissions, and document workflows.
- Ensure all project documentation meets contractual and client requirements, including quality, completeness, and deadlines.
- Review supplier documentation for compliance with agreed standards.
- Act as the key point of contact for document management queries across project teams.
- Collaborate with external suppliers to define and implement documentation processes.
- Support tender activities by drafting DMS requirements for project specifications.
Essential Skills & Experience- Qualification (or equivalent experience) in a technical or business-related discipline.
- Proven experience in document management on major infrastructure or engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of document management systems and their implementation.
- Experience managing teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to work across several projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills – confident, assertive, and collaborative.
- Solid understanding of project management processes and delivery phases.
- Demonstrated ability to build credible relationships across project teams, contractors, and suppliers.
Desirable Skills- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Vault, or similar engineering systems.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g. APM, PMI, PRINCE2).
- Experience within the energy or power sector.
