Electrical and Control System Design Engineer Opportunities – Warrington
We’re looking for experienced Electrical and Control System Design Engineers to join projects in support of decommissioning activities. Based at Birchwood Park, Warrington, these positions offer either permanent employment or contract opportunities (inside IR35). This is a great fit for professionals with experience in electrical systems or programmable control systems who enjoy working within multidisciplinary teams.

Salary
Competitive, with both permanent and inside IR35 contract options available.

Location and Working Pattern
Birchwood Park, Warrington. A minimum of three days per week on-site.

Client Overview
Our client is engaged in high-profile engineering projects within the nuclear sector, delivering safe and innovative solutions for complex environments.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver, review, and check design packages to meet functional and safety requirements
  • Develop electrical designs (including small power, lighting, earthing) or PES-based control system solutions
  • Produce engineering calculations, drawings, and associated technical documentation
  • Support construction, procurement, and commissioning phases where design input is required
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and regulations
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to early-career engineers
  • Lead or coordinate design workstreams for senior roles
  • Contribute to progress reporting and planning activities
Must-have Requirements
  • HNC (minimum) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Incorporated Engineer status (minimum)
  • Proven experience in either:
    • Electrical design engineering (small power, lighting, earthing) OR
    • Programmable Electronic System (PES)-based control system design
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience delivering multidisciplinary design projects from concept to handover
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to provide design support during key project phases
  • Ability to gain SC level security clearance
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Experience with Trimble ProDesign (Amtech) and DIALux evo
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation and specialist radiometric instruments
  • Experience in SCADA/PLC system design and network architecture
  • Background in leading design packages and mentoring engineers
  • Chartered Engineer status and/or degree-level qualification
