About the Role As our client continues to expand into large-scale solar farm development, and therefore are looking to recruit an Electrical Engineer / Project Manager to join the growing project delivery team.
This role will take responsibility for the management, coordination, and technical oversight of electrical installations across our renewable energy portfolio, including solar rooftop, utility-scale solar farm & BESS projects across the UK.
The successful candidate will bring both strong engineering knowledge and project management capability, ensuring electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
This position will be based from our Durham headquarters, with regular travel to sites nationwide and occasional overnight stays as required.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the electrical installation and commissioning of solar rooftop, solar farm & BESS projects.
- Oversee and coordinate works involving LV and HV infrastructure, including transformers, substations, and grid connections.
- Support and contribute to the design and development of electrical grid infrastructure for:
- Front-of-the-meter grid-connected PV & BESS projects
- Behind-the-meter private wire renewable energy systems
- Manage integration and commissioning of SCADA systems and site CCTV infrastructure.
- Liaise with DNOs, ICPs, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams to ensure project delivery targets are met.
- Assist with the pricing and commercial evaluation of HV/LV electrical works, including variations to existing contracts.
- Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support during project planning and construction phases.
- Ensure all electrical works comply with industry standards, grid requirements, and health & safety regulations.
- Support commissioning, testing, and handover of projects.
Required Experience & Skills- Proven experience managing electrical installations on solar rooftop, solar farm & BESS projects.
- Strong understanding of LV and HV electrical infrastructure within renewable energy projects.
- Experience with SCADA systems and site monitoring technologies.
- Knowledge of grid infrastructure design for renewable energy connections.
- Experience supporting private wire and grid-connected PV & BESS systems.
- Ability to price and evaluate HV/LV electrical works and project variations.
- Strong coordination skills with multiple contractors and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and project management capability.
- Willingness to travel nationally and stay overnight when required.
Desirable - Experience working on grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Background working with ICP / EPC contractors or renewable energy developers.
- Professional qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
