NRL's infrastructure client has a need for an Environmental Advisor to join them on project work throughout Teesside on a 12 month contract basis. 
Initially this position is required to provide full time support to a Nationally significant infrastructure low carbon project in the Northeast although subsequent support to work locations across the UK will be required.

 

About the role:

The role will report to the Environment Manager within the Energy Pillar of the United Infrastructure business but will be expected to interface with our clients and all disciplines in the project teams and project personnel in order to successfully deliver our projects and build relationships.


Key responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day environmental assurance across active construction sites.
  • Ensure that the project meets all environmental obligations, permits, and reporting requirements.
  • Working with the project teams to identify the scope of environmental deliverables and workstreams and helping to incorporate into the overall project schedule / programme of work.
  • Providing specialist subject matter expert advice to colleagues / subcontractors on regulatory compliance and other environmental matters.
  • Support compliance with the United Infrastructure environmental management system and legal requirements.
  • Attend site meetings, audits, and inspections with contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Review and challenge waste management plans, transfer documentation, and permitting submissions.
  • Support the development and roll out of practical, effective environmental management systems and monitoring processes. Ensure that environmental best practice is identified, shared and embedded.

 

Role Specific Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Qualifications, skills and knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental management or another relevant discipline; Or,
  • Chartered or working towards relevant professional accreditation (ISEP (IEMA), CIWM, CENV or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in environmental roles within infrastructure or construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation and standards
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Full driving Licence essential.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure programmes or frameworks is desirable.

  • Practicable problem solving: comfortable interpreting environmental risks and helping teams apply on-site solutions.
