Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to join a respected structural steelwork and construction organisation based in Teesside. This position suits someone who has proven experience in estimating structural steel or construction projects and enjoys combining technical knowledge with commercial insight.

Location Teesside 

Client Overview Our client is a well‑established structural steelwork and construction company delivering turnkey engineering and steel fabrication projects across the UK. Operating from their head office in Teesside and fabrication facilities in nearby Skelton, they provide an integrated service encompassing design, detailing, fabrication, and installation for industrial, commercial, energy and infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural steelwork and turnkey projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, 3D models, and tender documentation to produce material take‑offs and quantities.
• Issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors, evaluate quotations, and negotiate competitive pricing.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project teams to produce commercially viable bids.
• Identify risks, opportunities, exclusions, and potential value‑engineering solutions.
• Prepare and submit tender proposals, quotations, and pricing schedules within required deadlines.
• Support post‑tender clarifications and commercial negotiations.
• Maintain accurate pricing, tender, and benchmarking records within company systems.

Must‑have Requirements

• Proven experience as a Steelwork or Construction Estimator, ideally within a structural steel or fabrication environment.
• In‑depth understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Excellent commercial awareness and cost control skills.
• Strong analytical capabilities with exceptional attention to detail.
• Effective communicator, confident engaging with clients, suppliers, and colleagues at all levels.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Nice‑to‑have Skills

• Experience working with major contractors or EPC teams.
• Knowledge of large‑scale industrial, energy, or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and UK construction standards.
• Experience using SharePoint, tender management systems, or 3D model viewers such as Navisworks
