NRL is seeking an Intellectual Property Lead to support a major client on a flagship programme.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of intellectual property governance and the management of licensed technical data on one of the UK’s most significant developments. You’ll be responsible for ensuring robust compliance with licensing agreements, maintaining effective controls, and supporting programme delivery through clear, structured processes. Operating within a highly collaborative and regulated environment, you’ll have the opportunity to shape IP strategy and provide visible leadership across multiple disciplines.
What You'll Be Doing:
As an IPLA Manager, you’ll take ownership of IP governance and operational control across the SZC project. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Legal, IT, and Supply Chain teams to ensure licensed technical data is managed securely and in accordance with contractual obligations, while supporting effective project delivery.
Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- IP Strategy Development & Oversight: Establish and sustain robust governance frameworks for the management of licensed technical data.
- Process Assurance: Ensure IPLA procedures are clearly defined, implemented, and consistently adhered to.
- Primary IP Contact: Act as the initial point of contact for IP-related enquiries, managing and escalating complex matters as appropriate.
- Licensing & Contract Compliance: Ensure governance arrangements enable delivery while remaining fully aligned with contractual obligations.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with Legal, Supply Chain, IT, and Engineering teams to address and resolve IP-related challenges.
- Governance Representation & Reporting: Provide IP representation within audits and governance forums, maintaining clear oversight and reporting.
- Service & Process Enhancement: Drive improvements to IP systems, tools, workflows, and overall service design.
- Controlled Data Exchange: Facilitate secure and traceable transfer of licensed technical data between the two sites
What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria:
- Established experience working within the nuclear industry or a tightly regulated UK environment.
- Demonstrated success leading projects or services, with a track record of enhancing and refining operational processes.
- Practical experience contributing to governance frameworks, overseeing risk, or delivering outcomes in compliance-driven settings.
- Strong capability to interpret licensing agreements and apply intellectual property terms effectively across diverse technical teams.
- Confident engaging, influencing, and aligning stakeholders across multiple business functions.
- Sound judgement with the ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity in a methodical and forward-thinking manner.
- Clear, confident communicator with the ability to lead discussions and facilitate effective decision-making.
Desirable Attributes:
- Background in managing compliance-related activities within large-scale engineering environments.
- Familiarity with intellectual property platforms and product lifecycle management systems, including tools such as Teamcenter.
- Understanding of intellectual property controls and relevant regulatory expectations, including those aligned to ONR frameworks.
- Recognised Project Management qualification or substantial equivalent practical experience.
