Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

We’re recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to support a key engineering project in Finland. This position is well suited to a technically skilled professional with strong commissioning experience and an exceptional understanding of complex mechanical systems used in critical infrastructure environments.


Location and Working Pattern
Finland – on‑site position with some travel to other project locations as required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver commissioning activities across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Develop and implement detailed MEP testing and operating procedures.
• Perform dynamic and static testing, ensuring systems meet operational requirements.
• Review and interpret design drawings and specifications for technical accuracy.
• Carry out on‑site inspections, record findings and recommend corrective measures.
• Produce accurate reports, test documentation and project deliverables.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with local regulations.
• Collaborate with contractors and multidisciplinary teams to achieve high‑quality outcomes.

Must‑have Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• Proven track record in commissioning, installation, testing and maintenance of mechanical systems.
• Deep technical understanding of HVAC systems, chilled water distribution and air handling units.
• Experience working with instrumentation, control and monitoring systems.
• Competent in reading technical documentation and ensuring compliance with project standards.
• Strong communication, organisational and coordination skills.

Nice‑to‑have Skills

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
• Experience using SCADA, PLC, BMS or EPMS systems.
• Background in large‑scale data centre or mechanical infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus and Ethernet.
• Ability to travel internationally to support global project activities.
