Summary

We’re looking for experienced Welders to join the manufacturing team for Caterpillar Articulated Trucks in Peterlee. Salary
£19.55–£36.39 per hour on basic hours plus performance-related bonuses and overtime payments.

  • Mileage at standard mileage rate for people over 40 miles from site
  • Tyne Tunnel Reimbursement
  • Accommodation: £50.00 per shift for people over 60 miles from site
Location and Working Pattern
Peterlee, North East
Full-time, ongoing / long term contract
36.5 hours per week across day, afternoon and night shifts (rotating):
  • Days: Mon–Thu 08:00–16:00, Fri 08:00–12:30
  • Back shift: Mon–Thu 16:00–00:00, Fri 12:30–17:00
  • Night shift: Mon–Thu 00:00–08:00, Fri 17:00–21:30
  • Essential welders are flexibility to work across varied shifts and overtime
Client Overview
Caterpillar’s Peterlee facility is the global source of Cat® Articulated Trucks, producing seven variants for industries such as construction, mining and aggregates. The site embraces innovation with robotic systems, modern manufacturing technology and a state-of-the-art paint facility.
Responsibilities
  • Operate welding fixtures and complete welds to specified tolerances
  • Perform MIG and MMA welding using established procedures
  • Read and follow detailed work instructions and safety guidelines
  • Carry out manual handling tasks where required
  • Maintain quality and accuracy in all tasks
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve production goals
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times
Must-have Requirements
  • Proven welding experience
  • Ability to work from standardised procedures and drawings
  • Experience with MIG and MMA welding techniques
  • Relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification
  • Strong awareness of workplace safety
  • Welding carried out on 1.2mm Solid Wire. With a gas mixture of 80/20% Argon & CO2.
  • Test Day Paid: £150
Weld Tests
  • A variety of Welding tests to be carried out on 1.2mm Solid Wire. With a gas mixture of 80/20% Argon & CO2.
  • Weld Tests - 2F, 3F, 3G, 4F welding tests
  • Test Day Paid: £150 subject to passing and starting on site
