NEC Design Assurance Site Supervisor – Aylesbury

We’re looking for an experienced NEC Design Assurance Site Supervisor to join a major rail infrastructure programme in Aylesbury. This six‑month contract role is ideal for a chartered or senior engineer experienced in design assurance, governance, and multidisciplinary project delivery. You’ll be instrumental in managing construction‑stage technical assurance and ensuring all design changes meet the highest standards.


Location and Working Pattern

Aylesbury, with some travel required to nearby project offices in Brackley and Calvert.

Full‑time, site‑based role.



Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Project Engineer in managing construction‑stage design changes and field change proposals.
  • Lead risk‑based design assurance activities across civil engineering and rail infrastructure works.
  • Review, assess, and support the acceptance of contractor design submissions.
  • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts and technical specialists to undertake design reviews and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure contractor designs comply with project standards, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Support the management and closure of technical debt items across the programme.
  • Monitor and manage engineering risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation measures are in place.
  • Assist the NEC Project Manager with contractual, change control, and compliance activities.



Must‑have Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional level.
  • At least 8 years’ engineering experience, with a minimum of 2 within the rail sector.
  • Strong background in design assurance and technical governance.
  • Proven ability to review complex contractor design submissions and manage approvals.
  • Excellent knowledge of CDM Regulations and Principal Designer duties.
  • Working experience within NEC3 contract structures.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.



Nice‑to‑have Skills

  • Experience within multidisciplinary infrastructure or civils projects (e.g., highways, structures).
  • Familiarity with HS2 technical assurance processes.
  • Experience producing assurance documentation and progress reports.
