We’re looking for an experienced Production Programmer to join a respected manufacturing business based in
Bolton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong CAD/CAM and machining experience to play a key part in producing high-quality engineered parts. You’ll be joining a collaborative team where precision, quality and safety are central to everything they do.
Location and Working Pattern- Based on-site in Bolton
- Shop-floor based role with an office on the shop floor
- 4 days per week (Monday to Thursday), 37 hours total
- Typical hours: 6:30am – 4:15pm or 7:00am – 4:45pm
Client OverviewOur client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing company supplying precision products to critical industries. Their focus on continuous improvement, technical capability, and workforce development enables them to deliver exceptional performance and maintain high standards of workmanship.
Responsibilities- Programme CAD/CAM systems, converting 2D and 3D CAD drawings (STP to DXF files) for manufacturing use.
- Conduct remote programming for press brake and laser cutting machines.
- Upload accurate data to the MRP system to maintain production flow and ensure schedules are met.
- Support process optimisation and continuous improvement activities.
- Assist with product design-for-manufacture, ensuring efficiency and quality.
- Identify and recommend tools, jigs and fixtures to enhance productivity and safety.
- Contribute to capital expenditure documentation and project planning.
- Meet departmental KPI and project deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
Must‑have Requirements- Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor).
- Experience with press brake operating and programming.
- Understanding of metal fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Computer literacy.
- Practical experience within a metal fabrication or parts manufacturing environment.
Nice‑to‑have Skills- Engineering or manufacturing qualification (apprenticeship, HNC, HND, etc.).
- Experience using CADMAN‑B software.
- Familiarity with Progress Plus MRP systems.
- Experience working within an ISO 9000 quality management environment.
