Project HSE Manager

About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to join a major engineering and construction project, leading all aspects of Health, Safety, and Environmental management throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving HSE excellence, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture across engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning activities.

Purpose of the Position

As Project HSE Manager, you will report to the QHSE Manager and the Project Director. You will be responsible for the development, management, and continuous improvement of the Project HSE Management System throughout the engineering and development phases (EPIC) of the project. You will plan and coordinate the activities of all HSE personnel working in both design and site environments.

You will also define criteria and reference standards for developing project HSE plans and undertaking specific studies and analyses to evaluate plant/platform performance under normal operating and upset conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the effective development, management, and continuous improvement of the Project HSE Management System throughout all EPIC phases, in line with client requirements, IOGP guidance, and ISO standards.
  • Act as the HSE focal point for the project and manage all project-related HSE matters.
  • Interface with clients and administer the HSE requirements of the contract.
  • Develop, lead, and coordinate the project HSE team.
  • Provide HSE support and guidance to Project Management.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and relevant UK legislation.
  • Interface with and support the environmental management team.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations.
  • Establish and implement HSE monitoring, inspection, and audit programmes.
  • Lead risk management activities including HAZOP, HAZID, Risk Assessments, and Hazard & Effect Management Processes.
  • Manage subcontractor HSE performance and compliance.
  • Facilitate periodic project HSE reviews and ensure completion of project HSE close-out reports.
Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as an HSE Manager.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience within HSE roles.
  • Experience working to IOGP standards 
Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
Professional Memberships / Certifications

  • Tech IOSH or higher preferred.
  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification desirable.
