Location: Glasgow (Hybrid – UK Wide / WFH options available)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Civil / Structural BIM Technician to support the delivery of complex projects within the nuclear and defence sectors. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to design and engineering solutions across highly regulated environments, including infrastructure supporting air, land and maritime defence programmes.



About the Opportunity

This role offers flexibility with remote or office-based working options, providing the opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects across all RIBA stages within secure environments.



Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage 3D BIM models using industry-standard software
  • Produce accurate 2D drawings (layouts, sections, elevations, arrangements) from 3D models
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to capture and deliver design requirements
  • Provide technical input and guidance across projects
  • Support the implementation and continuous development of BIM processes and standards
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 19650 BIM standards and Common Data Environment (CDE) protocols


Key Requirements

  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks
  • Strong ability to produce 3D CAD information within a BIM environment
  • Good understanding of Civil & Structural engineering disciplines, with willingness to support Architectural and MEP design where required
  • Experience working within a highly regulated environment (defence, nuclear, or similar desirable)
  • Familiarity with CDE platforms and QA systems
  • Relevant qualification (minimum HND or equivalent)


Additional Information

  • Must be a sole UK National
  • Willing and able to obtain BPSS security clearance

Civil / Structural BIM Technician - Senior

Our Defence and Security provide design and engineering services for our nuclear and defence clients across the UK and abroad. Our team is experiencing exciting growth and long-term prospects within our established practice, and we are looking for an experienced Civil / Structural BIM to join our multi-discipline technical delivery capability.

About the Opportunity:

We are looking to recruit and develop career minded people to bolster our well-established and growing multi-discipline engineering delivery capability to meet opportunities in the nuclear and defence industries. Our projects include developing solutions through all stages in highly regulated environments, in support of air, land and sea defence establishments, the UK nuclear submarine fleet, and both existing and new build nuclear bases.

You will preferably have experience of working in the maritime, nuclear and/or defence industries, but also those with relevant industrial design experience looking to work in a technically challenging environment. Our projects include developing solutions through all RIBA stages in highly regulated environments. In this hands on role, you will:

  • Be fluent in Revit, Auto-Cad and Navis Works.
  • Ability to produce 3D CAD information in a BIM environment.
  • Production of 2D drawings (layouts, arrangements, sections, elevations etc.) from the 3D model.
  • Work with project teams to capture design requirements, providing technical advice and guidance where required.
  • Support with the implementation & development of BIM activities.
  • Familiar with BIM (ISO19650), use of Common Data Environment (CDE) and QA systems.

Here's what you need

  • Possess a knowledge of the Civil / Structural engineering discipline, but willingness to contribute to Architectural and M&E Building Services.
  • Experienced in engineering in a defence or nuclear related industry preferred but not essential, happy to consider other industries.
  • Familiar with working in a secure environment.
  • Relevant qualification minimum, HND or equivalent.
  • All staff are required to be sole UK Nationals and able and willing to obtain BPSS level security clearance.
