Have you built data solutions for major infrastructure or capital delivery programmes?
Do you understand project controls data – cost, schedule, risk, change – and can you design Azure-based platforms that give programme leaders accurate, actionable insights? If so, we want to talk to you.
This is not a generic data engineering role – our client needs someone who combines hands-on Azure experience with project environment knowledge (construction/infrastructure/energy/nuclear preferred) to deliver robust data foundations for reporting across NEC, Primavera P6, and other industry tools.
You’ll be working mostly remotely but expected to attend occasional sessions in Warrington for mobilisation workshops, project reviews, or key delivery milestones.

Location and Working Pattern
  • UK-based role (must have right to work in the UK)
  • Primarily remote with occasional Warrington office/workshops
  • Open to permanent employment OR day-rate contract
About the Role
As part of a digital project controls transformation, you’ll create data pipelines and models underpinning critical reporting on multi-billion-pound projects in regulated sectors. Your work will bring together data from cost, schedule, and risk systems into governed layers ready for Power BI dashboards used by programme leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse
  • Integrate multi-format sources including Primavera P6 XER, cost/risk registers, CEMAR extracts, and Excel
  • Develop dimensional models for reporting across project controls domains
  • Build Power BI reporting datasets with lineage, validation, and exception checks
  • Work with planners, commercial teams, and risk managers to transform business requirements into trusted data flows
Must-Have Requirements
  • Proven background as a Data Engineer on capital delivery or major programme environments (construction, energy, utilities, nuclear, or defence)
  • Clear exposure to project controls data (cost, schedule, risk, change, earned value)
  • Hands-on skills in:
    • Azure Data Factory, Databricks (PySpark), Synapse or equivalent
    • Strong SQL and Python for transformations
    • Building enterprise-ready datasets for Power BI
  • Knowledge of dimensional modelling principles and layered architecture
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 (XER), NEC3/NEC4 contracts, CEMAR, Aconex, ProjectWise
  • Understanding of how cost and schedule data integrates with governance & reporting standards
  • Data quality frameworks for regulated environments
Why Apply?
  • Work remotely on cutting-edge digital controls platforms for nationally critical projects
  • Hybrid flexibility with contract & permanent options available
  • Chance to blend engineering domain insight with modern Azure data tech stack
