Welder
We’re seeking experienced Welders to join the Hinkley Point C nuclear new build project in Somerset. This is a permanent position offering long-term opportunities, competitive rates, and the chance to work on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects. Ideal for multi-coded welders experienced in TIG and MMA processes, particularly those with a background in high-spec environments.
Salary Rates in line with the ECSA agreement with overtime premiums.
Location and Working Pattern Hinkley Point C, Somerset – on-site role
- Shift patterns:
• Monday–Thursday: 07:00–17:00
• Friday–Sunday: 06:45–15:13 - Working pattern: 10 days on / 4 days off
- Approx. 50 hours per week with overtime options
- Park-and-ride bus payments per day available
Client OverviewOur client is a key partner delivering mechanical and welding services on major regulated projects, with a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and quality standards within the nuclear sector.
Responsibilities- Perform TIG and MMA welding on pipework, plate, and structural components to nuclear quality standards.
- Fabricate and install industrial piping systems, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and nuclear-grade pipes.
- Assemble and fit piping for pressure systems (ESPN / PED classified) and associated supports and brackets.
- Interpret technical drawings, welding procedures, and specifications accurately.
- Conduct and record weld inspections, consumable control, and maintain documentation in line with project requirements.
- Uphold safety culture through toolbox talks, risk assessments, and immediate hazard reporting.
- Ensure compliance with PPE, permit-to-work systems, and nuclear safety procedures.
Must-have Requirements- BS EN ISO 9606 coded welding qualifications
- Proven TIG and MMA welding experience (both processes actively used)
- Pipe welding expertise essential, alongside structural welding experience
- Multi-coded capability with experience in high-spec regulated sectors (nuclear, power, oil & gas)
- Qualified via NVQ, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or time-served (minimum 5 years’ verified experience)
- Holder of a valid CCNSG Safety Passport or willingness to obtain one
- Successful completion of on-site weld test (mandatory)
Nice-to-have Skills- Knowledge of nuclear safety culture and quality control processes
- Previous experience on large-scale or nuclear projects
