NRL Recruitment’s team supported over 100 workers on the project at peak for multiple contractors, to secure the skills they needed to build the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
To construct the world’s biggest monopile factory in Teesside, with the capacity to manufacture up to 200 offshore wind turbine monopiles each year, contractors onsite engaged NRL Recruitment’s experienced team. Various roles were needed across the project programme, including Electricians, Electrician’s Mates, Labourers, Pipefitters, Plumbers and Health and Safety positions. As well as senior personnel to oversee operations.
With the project spanning more than two years, talent needed to be available at key times across the project, with strong communication with the local talent pool to keep candidate up-to-date and well informed on project progress and work opportunities.
The NRL Recruitment Teesside team already had extensive experience working on regeneration projects across Teesworks and the wider region, and had good connections with local candidates looking for work.
To support this, a targeted marketing campaign including a dedicated landing page on the website and social media advertising, helped attract passive candidates not already on our database. This helped to manage peaks in recruitment demand and provided steady onboarding of suitably skilled and qualified workers.
For one contractor onsite LJJ, whilst the project was local to their regional base in Stockton-on-Tees, a larger focus on contract work outside the area meant they faced a lack of local labour to engage on the XXL monopile project. In partnership with our Teesside team, our recruiters were able to close the skills gap and recruit a local labour delivery team for LJJ to support their work package onsite and elevate their regional presence.
“Securing a prestigious contract in the Teesside region, we wanted to work with a local company to support our operations in the North East. NRL understood our business, and we were pleased to form a partnership with them.
NRL’s team used their local market knowledge and recruitment expertise to secure a core technical team to work on the project as well as a strong workforce. Throughout the project they continued to proactively support our team and workers.”
Jai Rennison, Managing Director of Northern and Retail, LJJ Ltd
Our recruitment team took an active role onsite, providing 1-2-1 support with workers and construction contractors and ensuring any queries around their work responsibilities and pay were proactively managed. This included welfare and mental health support, to make sure workers were well looked after during their time on the project.
The result, a successfully delivered project, ensuring local candidates had access to high-quality job opportunities. Whilst supporting contractors onsite to deliver the skills and expertise they needed at each key stage of the project.
