NRL’s engineering client based in Pembrokshire is looking to recruit an EC&I Site Commissioning Engineer for an initial 4 week contract role starting asap. 

About the role:

The Asset Management function is a highly specialised engineering services and equipment provider, supporting customers to minimise cost, maximise return and mitigate risk through their asset integrity lifecycle. We are recruiting exceptional candidates to join our mission in becoming a fully certified Asset Management engineering services provider of both consultancy and integrated projects, across future global low carbon energy and infrastructure markets.

One of the key roles of the Plant Performance and Operations team within our Asset Management business area is to provide the commissioning, start-up, and operation support to the business’s various projects. Within this team we have a short-term opportunity for a site-based EC&I Commissioning Engineer on a proof-of-concept hydrogen project based at Pembroke Dock.

The role reports directly into the Site Commissioning Manager. As an EC&I Commissioning Engineer, working as part of a multi-disciplined team, responsible for the following EC&I activities as part of the commissioning execution:

  • Prepare all the EC&I commissioning and test procedures.

  • To read & interpret applicable technical information, including drawings, schematics, P&IDs, procedures, manuals, codes, and specifications.

  • Support as required Factory and Site Acceptance Tests.

  • Conducts detailed equipment, subsystem, Mechanical Completion walk-downs.

  • Carry out commissioning and testing activities in line with written commissioning procedures.

  • Commissioning activities undertaken in accordance with the commissioning programme.

  • Ensure all commissioning dossiers are maintained with up-to-date check sheets and commissioning records.

  • Identifying, recording, and rectifying of faults.

  • Management and witnessing of vendor activities.

The candidate who should ideally have a HNC in EC&I Engineering with a background in the energy, process or hydrocarbon industry. The position requires experience in loop checking and an in-depth knowledge of electrical testing and procedures for primary and secondary equipment such as protection relays, circuit breakers, disconnectors, current and voltage transformers. Experience in the EC&I commissioning of the following equipment and systems is required:

  • MV / LV switchgear and distribution boards

  • Transformers

  • UPS systems

  • Large variable speed drives

  • Electric motors

  • Standby diesel generators

  • Electric heat tracing

  • Instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, etc..)

  • Fire and gas systems

  • Safety shutdown systems

  • DCS/PLC controls.
