Here at NRL we are currently looking to recruit an experienced Senior Payroll Assistant to join our busy head office team in Wigan. The role will be an integral part of the business supporting multiple branches across the UK.
Day to day, you will support the Payroll Function as part of a team taking a lead on area of responsibility.


Purpose of the Role:

  • Experienced senior payroll administrator with excellent data entry and customer service skills.

  • Previous payroll experience essential.

  • Working within the payroll team with the joint responsibility for processing weekly and monthly payments to over 2000 workers, consisting of approximately 800 PAYE, 150 CIS and 1,150 Ltd Company and Umbrella workers

  • To ensure the Payroll service is delivered accurately, timely and professionally

  • Provide the highest level of customer service to Workers, Clients and internal branches


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the payroll manager & payroll team, with the day-to-day processes of a fast-paced weekly payroll

  • Assisting with training & development of the payroll team

  • Dealing with wage queries

  • Accurate and timely timesheet entry with data from a variety of sources and in varying formats

  • Ensure strict weekly deadlines are met

  • Validation and entry of expenses

  • Conduct full checking procedures

  • Payment file creation and checking

  • Ownership of payroll queries from PAYE workers, Ltd Companies, Umbrella companies and CIS Workers

  • Be a point of contact for branch administrators within the organisation


Job Requirement:

  • Excellent, proven, high volume data entry and customer services skills

  • Ability to remain calm whilst under pressure

  • Ability to build relationships at all levels

  • Ability to work under own initiative

  • Maintain excellent communication with the wider business

  • Strong work ethic

  • Team player, proud to be part of the service/support centre.


Technical Requirement:

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to work across multiple programs.
