Our client, a leader in the Energy from Waste industry, are now looking for a Welding Supervisor to support with their Service Office based in Hinckley, but in practice will be travelling up and down the UK to support short-term outages on EfW power stations.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Demonstrates leadership and commitment to HSEQ. Actively encourages and leads the HZI and contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements
Ensures that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management and HSE team, HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS
Is responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under their control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised
Works with customer and service/project manager in producing work schedules and plans, then implements service delivery performing necessary testing in accordance with written appropriate test procedures
Implements standardized methods in order to identify complex problems
Supports pro-actively the service team to achieve objectives
Ensures works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract, and conform with project time and budget requirements
Provide guidance and Co-operation of consortium partners sub contractors and exchanges experience with colleagues responsible for products and other service teams and specialist departments
Reviews and approves the following:
WPQRs, WPS
Welder’s Certification/Coding review
Welding Operator’s Certification review (e.g. stud welding)
Site Skills test (Pressure Parts)
Welding book/welding history maintain
NDE results
Welding statistics/regular reporting
Monitoring of % volumetric testing of welding
Carries out spot checks of welding parameters (welder identity, preheat temperature, interpass temperature, issue and use of consumables, check root pass quality, post heating and post weld heat treatment as applicable). ·
Monitors Post Weld Heat treatment activities and ensures that data is recorded and signed off
Organise and supervise welding skills tests as specified by HZI procedures
Progresses change requests (technical, time and costs)
Prepares and works with service/project manager to follow-up deviations and claims
Delivers Lessons Learned and feedback for current and future projects
Follows up and ensures closing of the contractor’s punch items
Keeps the Service/Project Manager informed of all site related activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Job specific qualification:
City & Guilds Level 3 Engineering
CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector
Experienced as supervisor in delivering Boiler Pressure Parts services to a large industrial plant
Experienced in the co-ordination of contracts / contractors on site
Experienced in the Inspection and approval of Boiler pressure part welding in accordance with companies welding quality system, procedures and policies
Familiar with common NDT, quality procedures and standards
Experience in evaluation of RT films and other NDT results (level II)
Experienced as a leader of HSEQ and has knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal and management system requirements
Knowledge of relevant international and national technical standards
Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), valid Safety Contractors Certificate or equivalent
Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite applications
Specific knowledge required for roles:
Pressure Parts: Simple Pressure Vessel Directive 2009/105/EC, 2014/29/EC; and Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC, 2014/68/EC
Machinery: Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC; ATEX 95 Equipment Directive 94/9EC, 2014/34/EC; and ATEX 137 Workplace Directive 1999/92/EC (to the extent applicable)
