Role Summary/Purpose

Working for NRL as a Wind Turbine Technician. Will be responsible for performing service activities, repairs on wind turbine generators and the ancillary equipment (Networks, SCADA systems, substations etc.).  Based out of Arklow. 

Occasionally travelling across Ireland to other onshore wind farms to undertake similar service activities.

Essential Responsibilities

• Servicing wind turbine equipment and ensuring it operates within specification.

• Troubleshooting and repairing electrical & mechanical system malfunctions and faults.

•  Maintenance and control of LOTO safe systems of work.

•  Ensure safety standards are maintained during service activities.

• Collaborate with engineering departments and other internal functions.

• Maintain and follow safety and quality procedures as required by company policy.

•  Keep records, maintain service documentation and report as required by company policy.

• Maintain service centre with necessary tools, materials and equipment for service operations.

•  Ensure periodic maintenance, repairs and calibrations are made to equipment/tooling & PPE.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

• Qualified & Certified electrician / technician or equivalent knowledge and experience.

• Previous HV switching /Isolation experience or equivalent.

•  Experience in the maintenance of HV Plant and equipment.

•  Good knowledge of measurement, control systems and PLC technology.

• Strong ability to read, follow and understand electrical schematics.

• Good knowledge and ability to use electrical measurement equipment and instruments.

• Strong creative problem-solving skills.

• Competent with MS-Office, Oracle applications and service reporting systems.

•  Familiarity with SCADA systems.

• Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst continuing to follow safety/quality guidelines.

•  Competent in Health and Safety standards (EHS).

• Ability to work at height.

• Capable of working at remote sites and offshore conditions.

• Valid/clean driving license (EU class B).

•  English fluency, particularly with use of technical terminology.
