HSEQ Coordinator
Summary
We are seeking an HSEQ Coordinator to join our team in Brazil. This role is ideal for professionals experienced in Health, Safety, Environment and Quality compliance, particularly within maritime or offshore settings. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining operational standards and ensuring compliance with Brazilian maritime regulations.
Location and Working Pattern
Office-based in São Paulo, Brazil. Full-time permanent position.
Client Overview Our client is a leading player in ship-to-ship (STS) transfer operations within the Brazilian sector, committed to the highest standards of safety, quality and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities- Maintain and update HSEQ documents, including policies, procedures, registers and risk assessments
- Manage and control the Master Document List
- Prepare for and support technical and regulatory visits from authorities such as DPC, ANP, IBAMA and classification societies
- Coordinate STS operation risk assessments, including the 4x4 risk matrix process
- Track training, competence and certification records for operational personnel
- Support incident, near-miss and corrective action reporting, tracking and closure
- Assist with emergency and oil spill response drills alongside the HSEQ Specialist
- Support internal audits and ensure inspection readiness against ISO 9001 and IMS frameworks
- Liaise with external consultants, HSEQ specialists and regulatory authorities on compliance matters
Must-have Requirements- Degree or technical qualification in Nautical Sciences, Safety Engineering, Environmental Management, Law (maritime focus) or similar
- Proven experience in HSEQ, compliance or coordination roles within maritime, offshore, or port environments
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and awareness of maritime safety standards (ISM, ISPS or equivalent)
- Fluency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written)
- Skilled with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Nice-to-have Skills- Background in audit or inspection roles, particularly for maritime safety
- Previous service in the Brazilian Navy
- Familiarity with oil spill response and emergency drills
