Mechanical QA/QC Engineer
SummaryWe’re looking for a Mechanical QA/QC Engineer to join our team and support quality assurance and quality control delivery on a major UK nuclear new build power station project. This role will suit someone with proven QA/QC experience in mechanical systems, looking to work on one of the country’s most high-profile construction projects. Responsibilities- Implement project Quality Management System requirements, supporting compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 19443 standards.
- Review and verify contractor quality plans, inspection plans and method statements.
- Conduct inspections and surveillance of mechanical installation and testing activities.
- Monitor and maintain quality records in line with project requirements.
- Witness testing activities and verify completion of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Manage non-conformance process, including raising NCRs and supporting root cause analysis.
- Liaise with construction supervisors, commissioning teams and client representatives to ensure compliance.
- Support the production and review of lifetime quality records and turnover documentation.
Must‑have Requirements- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in QA/QC roles within major construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and inspection/test planning.
- Previous experience supporting mechanical installation and commissioning activities.
- Relevant site safety qualification.
Nice‑to‑have Skills- Nuclear new build or regulated industry experience (nuclear, oil & gas, petrochemical, defence).
- Membership of CQI or IMechE.
- Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification.
- Familiarity with RCC-M, ASME codes or pressure system regulations.
