Job Title - Plater
Summary - We’re looking for experienced Platers to work on the prestigious Hinkley Point C nuclear new build project in Somerset. Salary - Rates in line with the ECSA agreement with overtime premiums.
Location and Working Pattern - Hinkley Point C, Somerset – fully site-based
- Shift patterns:
• Monday–Thursday: 07:00–17:00
• Friday–Sunday: 06:45–15:13 - 10 days on / 4 days off rotation
- Approx. 50 hours per week + overtime options
- Accommodation allowance and retainers available
- Additional daily bus and park-and-ride allowance provided

Responsibilities- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to fabricate and assemble structural steel and components accurately
- Mark out, cut, shape, and prepare metalwork to exact tolerances using appropriate methods and tools
- Assemble and install fabricated components to meet project schedules and quality requirements
- Conduct inspections to verify compliance with safety and technical standards
- Maintain detailed records of work completed for quality assurance purposes
- Support a positive safety culture by participating in toolbox talks, pre-job briefs, and hazard reporting
- Keep work areas clean, safe, and well-organised at all times
- Liaise with supervisors, QA/QC teams, and other trades to resolve technical queries effectively
Must-have Requirements- Qualified via NVQ, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or time-served (minimum 5 years’ verified experience in your trade)
- Holder of a valid CCNSG Safety Passport or willingness to obtain one
- Proven experience in fabrication and assembly within a high-risk or regulated environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong commitment to safety and quality standards
Nice-to-have Skills- Connected Competence credentials (Plating discipline)
- Prior experience in nuclear or major infrastructure projects
