Plumber

On behalf of or client, NRL are recruiting for a Plumber for work in the Birmingham area.

Duration:   Until 14th Feb 2027
Location:   Birmingham, B15 2WB
Rate:   £20p/h hol pay
Hours: 8am – 4pm Mon-Fri
 
This role has an important role within the workflow process; you will be actively involved in developing detailed knowledge, and the maintenance of the core plant and equipment on the QEH Estate. It is term temp cover for a tap replacement project starting in April 2026.

Qualifications or Required Experience:

• Previous experience of working within a health care environment (desirable)
• NVQ or C&G Level 2 Heating/Vent/Plumbing
• Legionella/TMV/Disinfection awareness and training

 
You will be required to undertake the water system planned preventive maintenance, testing, breakdown maintenance and other maintenance related activities to the Estate.

You will be required to cover off the below:
Assessment & planning
Infection-control compliance
Safe isolation
Tap removal & installation
TMV checks
Water hygiene flushing
Documentation & handover

Complexity:

• To perform the complete range of Mechanical Craftsperson (Water) tasks as required or directed by management.
• To be knowledgeable of and to work to ACoP L8 & HTM04-01.
• To be knowledgeable of and to work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health & Safety regulations, and all safety rules both our clients and Statutory.
• To have a knowledge of water systems within a commercial/healthcare environment and maintenance/ testing activities.
• To have a knowledge of Legionella and other water pathogens.
• To undertake temperature monitoring, shower head cleaning and disinfection, TMV servicing, buffer vessel blow downs, to name a few.
• Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings, and specifications appropriate to his/her own trade, without supervision.
• Ensure all PPM work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions.
• Maintain records and logbooks, ensuring they are kept up to date and available for inspection.
• To record information as required for the operation of Maximo or similar system.
• To assist in ensuring that immediate corrective action is taken in the event of emergencies, so that the Trusts/client needs are met, to avoid danger to people, property, and service provision.
• To undertake additional and continual training in job skills and techniques that may be required to meet personal and organisational aims.
• To undertake any other duties as requested by Management, to comply with our clients contact and KPI’s.
• To participate in our clients appraisal system.
• After appropriate training, work off tower scaffolding, MEWP’s, ladders, and step ladders and within confined spaces.
• To be contacted by radio and/or PDA to receive instructions. This can involve frequent disruption to work patterns.
