Project Controller – Göttingen, Germany (2‑month Contract)

We’re looking for a skilled Project Controller to join a leading global engineering organisation on a 2‑month contract based in Göttingen. This role is ideal for a finance professional with experience in project controlling, cost management, or commercial project management who enjoys driving financial performance and supporting project delivery.

Based in Göttingen, Germany. On‑site role within a collaborative engineering environment.


Client Overview
Our client is an established international engineering and professional services leader, delivering innovative projects across the infrastructure, energy, and industrial sectors.


Responsibilities
  • Prepare, coordinate, and provide commercial project status information.
  • Conduct rolling forecasts and forward planning activities.
  • Ensure accurate and reliable project cost planning.
  • Identify and implement financial performance improvement opportunities.
  • Support detailed cost, revenue, and liquidity planning on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Oversee project cost monitoring, reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Review and approve financial transactions and invoices.
  • Manage contract and risk assessments, including payment plans and price clauses.
  • Coordinate project communications with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Contribute to year‑end financial activities and continuous process improvements.


Must‑have Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Controlling, or a related field; equivalent commercial qualification with practical experience also considered.
  • Several years’ experience in project controlling, cost management, or commercial project management.
  • Hands‑on experience within infrastructure, energy, construction, or large‑scale engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent SAP and MS Excel skills, with confidence using wider MS Office tools.
  • Fluent in German and good command of English.



Nice‑to‑have Skills

  • Previous experience with complex project structures and budgets.
  • Familiarity with contract and risk management processes.
  • Understanding of project‑based ERP systems and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with a proactive approach.
