We’re seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to join a major programme in Warrington. This role is ideal for professionals with strong PMO expertise and a proven ability to manage governance, cost control, and scheduling within complex engineering projects. This is an opportunity to lead project controls across all phases, working on a high-profile programme with a well-respected organisation.

Location and Working Pattern 
Birchwood Park, Warrington – Hybrid working with 2–3 days per week on site, remaining days from home.

Client Overview
Our client is a leading nuclear engineering and services organisation delivering safe, high-quality solutions to the UK’s clean energy and decommissioning sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain PMO governance, processes, and procedures across the project.
  • Define and manage the project baseline for scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Oversee scheduling teams to develop, manage, and analyse integrated project schedules.
  • Lead cost management, change management, and risk & opportunity management activities.
  • Produce accurate management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct governance reviews and manage stakeholder engagement throughout the lifecycle.
  • Ensure alignment of project control tools and promote continuous improvement.
  • Deputise for the Project Manager and ensure team development and succession readiness.
Must-have Requirements
  • Extensive experience in a similar PMO role within an engineering or construction environment.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, scheduling, and cost control processes.
  • Degree in engineering, project, or construction management (or equivalent).
  • Full project lifecycle experience from bid to closeout.
  • Knowledge of PMO toolsets and contract management frameworks (e.g., FIDIC, NEC).
  • British national eligible for BPSS and SC clearance.
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.
  • APM Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status or membership of a professional body.
  • Experience in nuclear or highly regulated industries.
