Quality Assurance Manager
Location: Edmonton, London (Site Based)

The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced
Quality Assurance Manager to join a major construction project in Edmonton, London. This is a site-based role, responsible for leading all Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities associated with structural steel erection works, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client quality requirements.
This position would suit an experienced QA/QC professional with a strong background in structural steel, welding inspection, NDT coordination, and quality management systems on large-scale industrial, energy, or construction projects.
Key Responsibilities Quality Management
- Implement, maintain, and oversee the project Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001:2015.
- Prepare and manage Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Procedures (QCPs), and Quality Programmes.
- Ensure full compliance with project and subcontractor quality requirements.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives across the project.
Inspection & Testing
- Develop, implement, and manage ITPs covering:
- Structural steel erection and alignment
- Bolting and torqueing activities
- Welding and NDT inspections
- Coordinate inspections with clients, contractors, and third-party inspection bodies.
- Ensure inspection notifications, approvals, and hold points are managed effectively.
Welding & NDT Management
- Act as the site lead for all welding quality activities.
- Review and approve:
- Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
- Welder qualifications
- Coordinate and oversee NDT activities including:
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Radiographic Testing (RT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Verify inspection results meet project acceptance criteria and relevant codes and standards.
- Ensure all welding inspections and testing are performed by suitably qualified personnel.
Site Quality Control
- Lead and manage QA/QC inspectors and quality personnel on site.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and relevant standards, including BS EN 1090.
- Monitor:
- Structural steel erection
- Welding operations
- Bolting activities
- Material traceability requirements
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain project quality documentation, including:
- Inspection reports
- Test reports
- Material certificates
- Calibration records
- Manage quality records through digital document control systems such as ASite.
- Prepare and submit the final Quality Handover Dossier.
Non-Conformance & Auditing
- Manage NCRs and corrective action processes.
- Conduct internal quality audits and support external audits.
- Ensure timely close-out of defects, observations, and punch-list items.
- Provide regular quality reports to project leadership and stakeholders.
Essential Requirements- Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a QA/QC Lead, Quality Manager, or Quality Assurance Manager on major construction or industrial projects.
- Strong background in structural steel erection and welding quality assurance.
- CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification.
- Excellent understanding of:
- BS EN 1090
- ISO 9001:2015
- Welding standards (ISO, EN, ASME)
- ITPs and QA/QC systems
- Experience managing:
- Welding inspections
- NDT coordination
- Material traceability systems
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work full-time on site in Edmonton, London.
Desirable Requirements- PCN or CSWIP NDT Level 2 Certification.
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification.
- CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector.
- Previous experience within:
- Energy from Waste (EfW)
- Power Generation
- Heavy Industrial Construction
- Large-scale Infrastructure Projects
