Job Title
Senior E&I Designer


Summary
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Designer for a 12-month contract based in Fawley. This role is ideal for professionals with strong brownfield oil and gas experience who can work confidently on-site within a large-scale industrial environment. You’ll play a key role in developing and checking detailed design drawings using industry-standard tools.

Client Overview
Our client is a leading organisation within the energy sector, delivering complex projects across electrical and instrumentation systems.


Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate project files and documentation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop design solutions
  • Produce conceptual layouts, surveys, and detailed design drawings
  • Prepare Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and conduct self-checking of all outputs
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and company standards
  • Comply with all health, safety, and quality assurance requirements
  • Follow internal management systems and project procedures
  • Support compliance with applicable standards and regulations


Must-have Requirements
  • Strong 2D design skills using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Access)
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and produce accurate outputs
  • Knowledge of electrical and control/instrumentation installations in hazardous areas
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills
  • Strong ability to convert base design data into detailed drawings
  • Certificate or Diploma in Electrical and/or Instrumentation Design/Drafting
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant drafting experience


Nice-to-have Skills
  • Experience with 3D modelling systems (such as PDS, PDMS, AutoPlant)
  • Knowledge of SmartPlant Instrumentation
  • Exposure to site surveys, construction support, or commissioning
  • Trade experience advantageous
  • Ability to perform instrument hook-ups
