Summary
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s South West team, supporting a flagship highways project in Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong commercial experience in civil engineering or highways who is looking to lead commercial operations and influence the success of major infrastructure works.

Salary
Around £65k per year.

Location and Working Pattern
Bristol
Full-time, Monday–Friday (40 hours).
Hybrid option: typically 1 day per week working from home, with flexibility based on project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead all commercial aspects of highways projects, protecting contractual and financial interests.
• Oversee procurement, including subcontract tendering, evaluation, and appointment.
• Manage cost reporting, valuations, invoices, forecasts, and cash-flow.
• Monitor project performance, analyse risks and opportunities, and implement efficiency measures.
• Administer NEC contracts, including variations, compensation events, and final accounts.
• Control change processes and ensure commercial compliance at every stage.
• Engage proactively with stakeholders, clients, and supply chain partners.
• Mentor and guide junior commercial team members.

Must-have Requirements

• Significant Quantity Surveying experience in civil engineering or highways projects.
• In-depth knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts, including change control.
• Strong subcontract procurement, negotiation, and cost management skills.
• Proven ability to deliver accurate commercial reporting and forecasting.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to lead and influence within a collaborative team environment.

Nice-to-have Skills

• Relevant degree.
• Experience working on highway improvement or road upgrade schemes.
