Commercial Manager – Warrington

Our client, a leader in the Nuclear and Defence industry, are now looking for a Commercial Manager to support with their site based in Warrington.

About the role:

For this role, you will be working on the Vaults Retrieval Project. An EPC project to design, manufacture and install a solution to solve technically complex customer challenges in decommissioning. The role will be a key part of the project(s) senior team.  This will be a key interface with customer commercial representatives and provide support to subcontracts.

  • You will provide expert commercial and contractual support and advice across designated projects, working closely with the Project Managers.

  • Commercial point of contact on allocated framework and delivery contracts, leading the commercial post-contract activities and building customer relationships.

  • Ensure compliant administration of customer head contracts, responsible for driving effective contract change, communications, KPI management and commercial / financial reporting.

  • Developing contractual based arguments to support negotiations with customers and subcontractors.

  • Negotiate change and resolve disputes at project level with customers, being an initial point of escalation for relevant project teams.

  • Supporting risk identification and management.

  • Provide management and development of junior members of the project commercial team.

  • Ensuring project compliance with the Client’s governance procedures.

  • Working closely with Procurement to ensure appropriate placing and management of supply chain contracts.

  • Working closely with Project Controls to ensure correct cost control and programme management.


What you will need:

Ideally you will have skills and experience covering the below:

  • Educated to degree level with Law degree or Quantity Surveyor qualification, or equivalent qualification or relevant experience

  • Significant generalist commercial experience, demonstrating proven track record in delivering on accountabilities, and more specifically on driving the commercial agenda

  • Proven track record of delivering significant contribution to project commercial strategy, and to delivering robust commercial management on large and complex contracts and bids

  • Proven success in commercially managing large-scale projects and complex change.

  • Initiatives using appropriate methodologies.

  • Experience in providing commercial specialist input into bids and contracts.

  • Demonstrable evidence of developing and sustaining positive working relationships including the ability to negotiate and to influence customer commercial strategy.

  • People management experience and commercial consultancy expertise.

  • Experience of bidding and administering NEC3/4 contracts, preferably ECC experience.

  • Evidence of cross-Business Unit networking, delivering speedy and proactive commercial (desirable)

  • Experience in developing commercial and line management capability.
