Short Term Trainer Specification

Position: Short Term Trainer

Location: MonteAlto, Italy

Subject: Excitation Operation & Maintenance (O&M)

Timings: Weeks 2 & 3 of July (plus approximately 5 days of preparation, which can be done remotely)


Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is an experienced Technical Field Advisor who is fluent in Italian (native level). The candidate will deliver training courses for the handover of Gas Turbines to our client’s customers.

Course Description:

This training is designed as a supplement to the Generator Excitation, Protection, and Static Starter Introduction course. The purpose of On-the-Job Training (OJT) is to provide participants with an opportunity to apply the lessons from the classroom training while guided by an experienced GE Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Training Content:

The training includes a full walk down of the excitation system to familiarize participants with the physical layout of the electrical components installed at the customer’s site. The SME will not physically perform any work on any plant equipment. This training familiarizes participants with electrical safety, electrical operation, and system architecture, utilizing the site single line diagram. Areas covered include maintenance of major electrical components installed at the customer’s site such as: excitation system, static starter (if applicable), protection panel, generator circuit breaker (GCB), transformers, DC & UPS systems, and batteries.

Duration: 10 Days

Target Audience: Supervisors, Operations, Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation & Controls

Prerequisites: Participants should have basic knowledge of power plant equipment and systems, technical experience or certificate (Electrical or Mechanical), and the ability to understand technical drawing and documents.

  • Access Published Documentation

  • Operate the EX2100e simulator

  • Download and understand the operational functions of GPP Relays

  • Troubleshoot EX2100e, LS2100e and GPP Relays

  • Run simulated tests on EX2100e & LS2100e systems

  • Perform Injection Tests on GPP Relays

  • Understand the Parts Replacement Process for the EX2100e, LS2100e and GPP

  • Monitor the Transformer Variables

  • Operate and Maintain the Generator Circuit Breaker (GCB)

  • Review and understand the DC & UPS system
