Job Specification: Short Term Trainer - Gas Turbine Control System O&M

Location: MonteAlto, Italy

Subject: Gas Turbine Control System Operation & Maintenance (O&M)

Timings: Last week of June + Week 1 of July, with approximately 5 days of preparation which can be done remotely.

Ideal Candidate: An experienced Technical Field Advisor, fluent in Italian (native), to deliver training courses for the handover of a commissioned power station to our client’s customers.

Course Description: 

This training is designed as a supplement to the Mark™ VIe Maintenance course. The purpose of On-the-Job Training (OJT) is to provide participants with an opportunity to apply the lessons from the classroom training while guided by an experienced GE Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a full walk down of the controls system to familiarize participants with the physical layout of controls system components.

  • Provide detailed knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain the Mark™ VIe Heavy Duty or Aeroderivative Gas Turbine and/or Steam Turbine control system and associated equipment.

Duration: 10 Days

  • Supervisors

  • Instrumentation & Controls

Prerequisites: Participants should have:

  • Basic knowledge and experience of Controls System

  • Understanding of basic Windows file structure

  • Attended the following course(s), or similar:

    • E-CON13401 Mark™ VIe Maintenance OR

    • E-CON23401 Mark™ Vle (Aero) Operation, Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Class Size: Maximum number of students: 12

Course Content: The following topics are typically covered, as applicable for the equipment provided. Coverage of each topic may include its description, components, software tool usage, function, and operation.

  • GT/ST Check Out & Start-up

    • Pre Start-up checks

    • Start-up Checks and Start Unit

  • Mark VIe

    • Clear Diagnostic Alarms

    • Ground Fault Checks

    • Repair/Replace Damaged Hardware

    • Trender

    • Trip Log

    • Update Software

  • Mark VIeS

    • Initial Setup of MKVIeS/SIL Control Panel

Note: 

The SME will not physically perform any work on any plant equipment. This training is intended for control technicians whose site has a Mark™ VIe control system. The training will familiarize participants with the hardware and software components.
