Procurement Consultant

Position Overview:

The Procurement Consultant will play a critical role in the successful execution of data centre construction projects. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of data centre equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in highly regulated industries, such as pharmaceuticals, semi-conductor manufacturing, or data centres.

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Sourcing:

    • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for data centre equipment, including servers, networking hardware, cooling systems, and power infrastructure.

    • Develop sourcing strategies that align with project timelines and budget constraints.

    • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to optimize cost and quality.

  2. Supplier Management:

    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.

    • Monitor supplier performance, track delivery schedules, and address any issues promptly.

    • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

  3. Risk Mitigation:

    • Assess risks related to equipment procurement, supply chain disruptions, and market fluctuations.

    • Implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize project delays and cost overruns.

  4. Technical Expertise:

    • Understand the technical specifications of data centre equipment.

    • Evaluate complex equipment requirements and recommend suitable solutions.

    • Work closely with engineering and project management teams to align procurement with project needs.

  5. Contract Management:

    • Draft, review, and execute procurement contracts.

    • Ensure contract terms are favorable and protect the interests of the organization.

    • Monitor contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

  6. Hybrid Role:

    • This position will be based at our client’s head office in Dublin.

    • The Procurement Consultant will split their time between remote work and occasional on-site visits to the data centre construction site.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in data centre construction or related industries.

  • Familiarity with highly regulated environments (pharmaceuticals, semi-conductor manufacturing, etc.).

  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex supplier relationships.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
