SENIOR WIND SAFETY, RISK & RELIABILITY ENGINEER

Our client an independent international consultancy specializing in performing Risk, Safety, Environmental and Reliability studies in the Clean Energy, Renewables, Oil and Gas (upstream, midstream and downstream), Transportation and Nuclear industries. They offer their clients cost effective consultancy services worldwide through all phases of engineering from Conceptual studies through Detailed Design Engineering support to Decommissioning activities. Their core skills are in Technical Safety, Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Risk Management, Asset Integrity and Operational Assurance.
Job Description:
Identify and help to secure job opportunities in the wind (specially offshore wind) sector
Prepare proposals for wind projects opportunities
Identify and secure the required resources for job execution
Manage and participate in the execution of risk and safety studies for wind projects (including offshore wind and floating wind facilities), ensuring jobs are delivered in scope, budget and with client satisfaction
Lead client facing workshops (e.g. HAZID/ ENVID, HAZOP, e-HAZOP, HIRA, bow-tie, ALARP etc.) depending on job requirements and availability
Maintain effective client relations by addressing clients’ comments and concerns
Guide younger / less experienced engineers in the execution of wind projects studies
Report to the UK Operation Manager for jobs schedule, resources and income
Coordinate with the Global Clean Energy Head Consultant on strategy and execution for the wind power sector
Coordinate with other MES heads of department, Operations Manager and MES Software group to exploit relevant opportunities
Identify any MES knowledge gap and agree a strategy on how to overcome them
Develop suitable methodologies for the execution of safety studies for wind projects
Coordinate the work required to comply with Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and help client team to fulfill the role of Principal Designer (PD) under these resulations
Prepare papers, attend and present at specific conferences, represent MES at specific exhibitions
Prepare budget development and marketing material specific to the wind sector
Required / Desired Skills & Qualities:
The candidate will have a minimum of Upper Second Class (2.1) degree in an engineering or science discipline. Ideally, candidate will have a second degree in Process Safety, Risk and Reliability Engineering.
The candidate will have demonstrable experience in the wind power industry, and in particular in offshore wind. Suitable experiences include having worked on wind safety studies for consultancies, renewable electricity generation companies and major contractors (in order of preference).
The candidate will have demonstratable experience in wind power safety studies and in particular in leading safety workshops for the wind sectors including HAZID/ ENVID, HAZOP, SIL/ LOPA and FMECA.
The candidate will have a demonstratable experience in Fire Risk Analysis, QRA, bow-tie studies, EERA, Ship impact studies, dropped objects studies, performance standards for SCE, HSE case development and other relevant wind farms safety studies.
The candidate will have professional links inside the wind industry where demonstrable capacity to create new opportunities being a plus.
The candidate should have knowledge of HSE engineering activities carried out on wind projects and being able to confidently estimate the amount of effort required.
A candidate with a demonstrable knowledge and experience on reliability studies for wind farms is preferred.
The candidate should have a basic knowledge of CFD studies and their use in the wind industry.
A candidate with knowledge of Risk Based Inspection and Maintenance requirements in the wind industry is preferred.
