Commissioning Engineer 

All candidates must be eligible for SC Clearance – can start with BPSS, so long as SC is in motion.
Based at Burghfield - RG30 
Duration: 26 weeks (initially) 
Full time site based role – 11 shifts on, 3 shifts off
Must Have: CSCS/ECS card prior to starting

About the Role We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to deliver complex commissioning projects in a highly regulated environment. You will ensure all work meets national legal requirements, client specifications, and technical standards. You’ll also play a key role in shaping commissionability throughout concept, detailed design, and construction phases.
This is a vital position for someone who thrives on responsibility, quality, safety, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities Project Leadership
  • Define and implement the Commissioning Strategy for allocated projects.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the company, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Plan, manage, and monitor all commissioning activities to meet Company and Customer standards.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure risks and hazards are fully identified, assessed, and controlled.
  • Promote and uphold Company values including People Who Do The Right Thing and People Who Lead Safely.
  • Oversee work execution to ensure it meets all technical and quality requirements.
  • Ensure robust Safe Systems of Work are in place (RAMS, instructions, briefings).
Resource & Contractor Management
  • Organise and secure resources necessary to deliver the project scope.
  • Manage and control subcontractors, ensuring competence and compliance.
  • Review competency and training records for all team members and subcontractor staff.
Performance Reporting
  • Provide regular updates on Safety, Quality, Time, and Cost performance.
  • Conduct workplace inspections to ensure standards and procedures are being met.
  • Report incidents or unplanned events immediately in line with Company and Customer processes.

Experience & Qualifications Academic Requirements You must hold one of the following:
  • Vocational Qualification Level 6 / Bachelor’s Degree / SVQ Level 4 plus membership of an appropriate Engineering Institution
    OR
  • NVQ Level 4 / HNC–HND / SVQ Level 3 plus relevant specific experience and Engineering Institution membership
Specific Requirements
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification is required.
Experience
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering complex commissioning projects within a highly regulated environment, ideally within the nuclear sector.
