We’re seeking an experienced EC&I Engineering Manager to join our team in Chorley. This role is ideal for a professionally registered engineer with a strong background in delivering complex engineering projects and leading multidiscipline teams. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of engineering delivery, drive quality standards and influence project success in a dynamic environment.

Location and Working Pattern
4 day working week! Chorley-based with hybrid working available (typically two days in the office and two days remote).

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multidiscipline engineering teams across all project phases from bid through to delivery and close-out.
  • Act as technical lead for bid proposals and tender responses, ensuring clarity in engineering strategies, scopes and costs.
  • Define and implement engineering delivery strategies, ensuring quality standards and regulatory compliance are met.
  • Support project planning, resource allocation and monitoring, driving adherence to agreed schedules and budgets.
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure engineering documentation, design files and calculations are accurate and compliant.
  • Establish robust assurance processes, conducting engineering reviews to demonstrate design conformity with legislation and standards.
  • Maintain proactive stakeholder engagement across clients, supply chain, and internal teams to ensure integrated solutions.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance engineering quality and efficiency.
Must-have Requirements
  • Professionally registered engineer with a recognised Level 6 qualification (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrable track record in leading multidiscipline engineering teams on large-scale projects.
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear safety principles and applicable legislation, including CE/UKCA marking processes.
  • Expertise in engineering assurance, design verification, and validation activities.
  • Proven ability to manage project scope, cost, and schedule while maintaining quality and compliance.
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Familiarity with Machinery Directive, LOLER, PUWER, CDM regulations.
  • Experience delivering projects within highly regulated environments.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring capability to support team development.
