We are seeking an experienced Cost Engineer to support major utilities projects across the North West. This role can be based in Warrington or Preston and involves working on significant wastewater programmes. It’s an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong cost control experience to make a real impact on essential infrastructure delivery.

Location and Working Pattern
Warrington or Preston. Hybrid working with at least 3 days per week in the office depending on project needs.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Monitor project expenditure against budgets and report variances promptly.
  • Produce accurate cost reports and maintain robust financial records.
  • Conduct risk analysis and support value engineering reviews.
  • Engage with project managers and stakeholders to ensure financial compliance and accuracy.
  • Support change control processes and assess their cost impact.
  • Ensure adherence to governance, contractual, and client reporting requirements.
Must-have Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Cost Engineer or in a similar cost management position within infrastructure, construction, or utilities.
  • Strong knowledge of cost control principles and estimating processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard cost reporting tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to liaise effectively within project teams and with external stakeholders.
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Familiarity with utilities or wastewater projects.
  • Professional qualification or working towards accreditation (ACostE, RICS, or similar).
